Recently had power surge from lightening and it knocked down my Athlon xp 1800+ to now only running 1150 where should I go in windows to check to see what I can do and if I can fix it? It fried my modem also. But the OS is fine, just the the prosessor speed now. Give me some clues

If you have hardware to swap around (i.e. mobo, cpu, ram) I'd give that a try. It could be a miriad of things. The best way is to swap them in/out and see where the problem is.

Check your bios to see if the power fluctuations reset the settings to default.
