I have a Netgear wireless router/access point upstairs. The range wasnt so great so I ran an ethernet cable downstairs to a Netgear wireless access point.
I can cannot get internet access through the access point.
I have a good connection to the WAP, 100%. I can talk to the WAP and configure it. But no internet.
I have the WAP set the same as my wireless card on the laptop, default gateway being the router and subnet is set correctly.
I know there must be something I am missing , but I dont know exactly what.

Thanks in advance.

Is your WAP connected to another router or your cable/DSL modem?

Some things to check if you have not already.

Does your provider use DHCP?

Default gateway on your wireless card should be your access point IP.

Hi-

The WAP is connected to a wireless router.
The wireless router covers the upstairs of the Inn I am working on, but does not extend downstairs to the first floor.
I ran a cable downstairs and set up the WAP downstairs.
If I change the gateway on the wireless card, it still does not connect through the WAP. Also, with the gateway changed it does not work on the wireless router upstairs.

I thought maybe the cable I ran was bad, but I tried another cable and it still does not work.
Thanks for your help.

Well, it looks like it was the firmware. I updated it and now it works fine.
