generic western digital hard drive?

Is this a western digital drive, look at the consumer reviews? Does WD make this drive and package it generically, and if so, why? Or does another company make it with the specs of WD? Please help

It is a WD drive but it does not carry the same warranty as their retail branded drives. Manufacturers will sell them to other companies as a generic drive.

Maxtor (CompUSA branded drives) as well as some of the other companies do that to cover the market that's not usually available to their retail branded drives. Wink Smile
