Well... do what the subject says Surprised Let's see what you guys and gals got!

*Edit*
Allrighty, I've decided to bump this thread back up so people can share pictures of their computers with us. I also made this a sticky.

A few rules, format the images so they can fit in the window without scrolling horizontally, If you can't do that, a link to the image will suffice.

Any posts where the pictures go dead will be deleted.

Also, if you want to comment on what someone did, please don't quote thier pictures. Just address your post to them. I.E "Spot, you did a nice job on your water cooling setup."

And if you guys need a webhost for your images, feel free to email them to me, and I'll gladly put them up on my server. Even if they are crappy webcam pcitures. Smile
So enough of that, show us what you got!

Hmmm... No pictures. Total cost for this project was about $10.

Well, one of the custom case mods that most modders will avoid is replacing the case front. They'll cut or mod everything else but that ugly, plastic/stock front. So their case pretty much looks like all the others. Until now... I wanted a custom filtered air section and the possibility of adding some USB ports to the front without taking up any drive slots.

I made a frame to fit the front of the case from 3/4" trim wood, glued it with polyurethane glue, clamped it together straight, and then allowed it to dry for 24hrs. Of course you can paint or stain the wood to anything you like to match or contrast the case. I left mine in a natural color for now.

Marking the exisiting holes for the front of the case, I drilled some pilot holes so the screws wouldn't crack the wood. The frame was then screwed down from inside of the case. I put in an extra bar near the middle but below the power buttons to help isolate the filtered air and to support the USB ports later on when I get them. It was important that the air be drawn in from the filtered area and not from the other sections of the case front (drives, power button).

Working with some plexiglass, I measured and cut out the sections for the 5¼" and 3½" drives, power button access and LED holes, and a custom airway for air filtration. I painted the backside of the plexiglass black for now so it wouldn't look so clear but you can paint it any color scheme you would want or just leave it clear. Make sure this is dry before you proceed to the next step.

I drilled 4 holes near the corners so it could be screwed down to the wood frame from the front. The power/HD LEDs and switches were then mounted to the case front and it was placed on top of the frame. I drilled more pilot holes into the frame so the front screws wouldn't crack the wood. The filters were fitted into their section.

What I ended up with is a custom airway that held my filter system (Scotchbrite pads) with a nice wood touch as well as some possible upgrades for ports in the front without using any drive slots. Big Smile

Hey, looked what happened while I was sleeping. Smile

I think this thread will become a sticky with pictures of everyones mods, that way it won't get unorganized. I will get some pics of what I have done up here later today.

This is my first and only mod to date. I did this long ago, soon after I joined this site. I just recently gave him to a good home with a pIII 500 inside.

Next time I build another one (have my eye on a real ugly one) I'll try to snap some pictures...

Here's what the original looked like:

OK.... here's my woman's BOX: Embarassed (I bought the case this way... so it wasn't my own modding)

Here's my case before I water cooled it... I added the window and painted it RED.

And now here's my current baby:

I used a 10 dollar submersable fish pump, a 401 transmission cooler, a few low RPM fans, hoses and hose clamps, and tupperware. I also added a neon light too...

I have been running water cooled now for 6 months or more and have NEVER had a problem. (crosses fingers) I'll probably never go back to traditional cooling.,

The store where I work sells a case like that (although with a much different window cut in the side with four triangles converving in the middle ). . .we also have one like it that is silver and has blue led bars on the front. . .

pretty cool stuff for people without the time/money/ambition to do the mods themselves. . .
