Well since we are on the subject RagingSteveK, what's up with the energy crisis and why hasn't Bush fixed it yet! He's president of the USA, why hasn't he done something to elliviate the high gas prices?

OK... I'll admit that I didn't fully read all the posts in that forum. But what I can't understand is why people are always telling me that our fuel is the least expensive compared to prices in other countries (European?) and that I shouldn't complain. Well folks, those "other countries" are taxing the Hell out of their citizens on fuel, enegry consumption, number of people who live in a house and the list could go on and on but I'm tired.
Geeze, even back in the '80's when my wife's relatives visited from Holland, they were amazed that I had two bathrooms with tubs and showers. I told them to use all the hot water they wanted. They liked the idea but still took a lot of sponge baths or PT baths, whatever that means. Maybe they were just really economically challanged and were set in their ways. I didn't ask, none of my business.
You wanna see some cheap oil? I suggest that our government tell our barbaric Arab "friends" that fuel prices are so high that we can no longer fly our planes and sail our ships to protect their pansey asses from from their barbaric Arab neighbors. Hell, just 100 years ago or less, they all were just a bunch of semi-nomadic tribes fighting each other over water holes and olive trees. Let 'em go back to that! And the way they treat women... Any of you gals out there have an opinion?
I read an article in the newspaper today about how the power companies on the West coast are really ripping off Californie users, making profits of 200 to 500 percent more than they were getting two years ago.
- I'm sorry. I should have put this in "Rover's Rants" but once I got started... well, you see what happened. :flamer:

I'll apologize as well for the clutter.
.But NOTHING changes without economic incentive.. Back in the '70s, 'they 'couldn't give solar away.. with tax credits, and all kinds of goodies.
.
and this was $.10/ KWH, and $5-7/ MCF, where I was living. [factor 5% /yr, compounded for 25 years, for a reasonable approximation-- dont really know if that's too much, or too little---into the early '80's-- too little ]
---
it's the world's greatest, perhaps most creatively played, version of supply and demand-- and all the players are very sharp..! |
