I haven't tried this one out yet, but it sounds good. I have also been looking for a list of services that I can safely disable, and this sounds like what I am looking for. Check it out

Cheers:D

Heheh...We just got an E-mail from NT Comptible. You'll find that same link on our main page as of about 30 minutes ago.

You're one step ahead of us!

I found this over at: http://www.worldowindows.com/w2000/recovery_console.htm

Recovery Console - Installation

The Recovery Console is very easy to set up on your boot menu for easy access. If you pre-install the Recovery Console, then you won't need to search for the installation diskettes or CD-ROM that you'd need to run it in an emergency.

To install the Recovery Console, insert your Windows 2000 CD into your CD-ROM drive, then from a command prompt execute the following command:

d:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons

This assumes your CD-ROM drive is drive d:, substitute the correct one for your system. After running this command, whenever you boot you'll see the Recovery Console listed as an option on the boot menu.

Now that is a good thing to know. I like it.

Disabling the "Windows" key
The "Windows" key is that little key usually found between the CTRL and ALT keys on newer keyboards. Pressing it brings up the START menu. In some cases, you may want to disable this key (on locked-down systems, or if you find you hit it accidentally and mess up games such as Quake). Here's how you can disable it.

Open Regedit and drill down to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout

Then, on the Edit menu click Add Value, and type in Scancode Map, click REG_BINARY as the Data Type, and then click OK.

Then, type 00000000000000000300000000005BE000005CE000000000 in the Data field (I'm not kidding - that's what you need!), and then click OK.

After rebooting, you should find that the Windows key is now disabled.
