as many of you have read over in the General Hardware forum, i'm going about building a new computer. this laptop is going to be funding that construction. if anyone is interested, feel free and bid on the eBay auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2301357197

or email me with an offer before i start to get bids. i think this laptop is worth about $600, plus in november i purchased an extended warranty for $150. so about $700 would suit me fine.

i also have an intellimouse explorer optical mouse v3 if anyone wants to include it in this sale for $50 or so. there is also a laptop bag that i may throw in, i have to see if my step-dad wants it for his new laptop first. should know about that tomorrow.

Toshiba Satellite 3000-S353 Laptop

Pictures and Descriptions
If pictures don't appear, please press the refresh button on your browser or email me and I'll send them to you.

Here you can see everything included. The laptop comes with a clean WindowsXP SP1 install (please contact me if you would rather have a different operating system installed). I have had this laptop since November of '01. It is in great physical shape. There are no dead pixels on the LCD and no defects. There is two black marks on the palm rest by the keyboard, from my palms. This isn't dirt, but the silver colored palm rest being worn away from use. These could be painted over if the buyer wanted to (I saw them as a black badge of working hard).

Here is the laptop and the swappable drives. The top most is the blank drive, below it is the floppy disk drive, below that is the battery pack, next to that is the DVD ROM drive. Also pictured is a boot disk, WinDVD software, the phone cord, and the AC adapter.

Here you can see all the original documentation. The single page "quick start guide" has a rip in it, but all the other documentation is in pristine, unread condition (I'm one of those "no manual" people).

This is the right hand side of the laptop.

This is the left hand side of the laptop.

This is the back of the laptop.

A picture of the parts and serial number of the laptop. If you go to: the Toshiba Website and enter this information, you can confirm the length of the warranty. I apologize for the blurry picture, the text reads:
Parts No. PS300U-03YKN2E
Serial No. 9114074CU
Those 0s are zeros, not Os.

More Information
Visit the Toshiba Website and check out the warranty. Read up on the laptop at the Toshiba Technical Support page. There you can read the User Guides and the Detailed Specs (PDF File).

Read some reviews from ZDNet -] rated 7.8 or user reviews by CNet -] rated 81% or user reviews at Yahoo Shopping -] 4 Stars or look on Google to find tons of more reviews.

If you have any questions, feel free and email me: brotherhobbes@hotmail.com. If you'd like to see more pictures, just email me and let me know what you'd like to see.

Payment and Shipping
I accept Cashier's Check, Money Order, PayPal, and Credit Cards through PayPal. No personal checks, please. All together these items away about 10 pounds and shipping will cost $25 via USPS Priority Mail. If you'd like insurance, let me know.

it didn't come with any if you will believe it. didn't even come with any sort of windows install CDs, outside of the cab files on the drive. what you see there is everything that came with the laptop outside of the shipping box.

Edit: ok i emailed a bunch of people who also got these laptops at the same time. it's possible i didn't get any recovery cds or maybe i lost them. i honestly can not remember ever having them, but if anyone has such a thing i'll get copies.

Update!

Auction now includes a laptop carrying case. The case is a Targus brand case very similar to the current model of the Targus Notepac that is retailing for $39.99 on the Targus Website: http://www.targus.com/product_details.asp?sku=CN01/OCN1

I was going to give this case to my Step-Dad to use with his new laptop, but his laptop is a larger size and doesn't fit this case. Great for you!

"The Targus Notepac Case is specifically designed for laptop computers and related accessories. A fully adjustable padded divider separates the laptop computer from your power supply, AC adapter, cables and other accessories. This laptop case also includes a workstation area that features disk pockets, business card holders and a file/ document pocket. The external pocket is perfect for files and miscellaneous items."

Here is the laptop case with the laptop in place and strapped down. There is an area on the right (or left, the divider is moveable) to place an optical mouse or the AC adapter, etc. There is 3 velcro pouches, one of the is perfect size for 3.5" diskettes, another is perfect for holding the swappable drive that isn't currently being used, and the final is about the size of a large business card. There is also 3 pen holders and a large pouch sized for legal pads.

Here you can see the bag closed. Note there is a white scuff mark on one corner. Also, there is a detachable shoulder strap with a cushion. The cushion piece has a slight rip in the fabric which I've fixed up with safety pin. There is a large pouch on the top here, great for headphones, CDs, etc. Underneath there is a small pouch great for miscellaneous papers and legal pads (not pictured).

Enjoy this added bonus! Shipping costs remain the same.

Is this only an eBay bidding thing or are you selling it here, too? I have a MIL that might be interested for the asking price... So what's the deal then? I have to bid on it? QuestionQuestionQuestion

...how things get done

i'm sorry bam, i didn't think anyone would want it here. last time i put up something for sale i didn't get any bites (game theaterXP sound card) and ended up having to put it on ebay. so this time i thought i'd do both at once. i was going to just end the auction and sell it if i got a serious offer, but i've already gotten so many bids on it. who would have guessed. so yes, sorry, you'll have to bid on it. my apologies.

if i ever sell anything else, i'll be sure to let you guys/gals get first dibs. even if no one wants it!
