I've done a little reading on it and it seems like to me that OfficeXP is more or less:
OFFICE2000 + Voice Recognition - Help functions(paper clip)=XP
any heard anything different |

Does anyone even use 10% of what Office 97 does? Most of the Users here just use basic Office features. We haven't even upgraded them to Office 2000 (although I have it, Testing it cant have old software). I only use the basic features too. Actually I'm an Office dope. I got to pull out the manual to do a mail merge . The only reason I can think of to upgrade is to fill up some of that 20 GB hard drive.

i agree . . i stopped using Office97 a long time ago . . i either used Star office, or someother cool freeware program i had . . they both turn out "office compatible" docs . . . the only diffrences i could notice were:
saving myself over 400meg on the install
star office "integrating" (not really it just opens up like it's a new UI)
star office kept asking me if i wanted to save in it's default format the first time i saved something after opening it.
here is that other free office app . . does .doc files and .xls files. i think anything else you have to buy a plugin for (but who cares . . it gives you the most inportant 2 for free)

I'm running XP. I'm also a student so Powerpoint is a good friend. Also I love Access...such a powerful prog. Anyway, for the Word general usage. Outlook, *they integrated the Hotmail access* which is great...I hated useing Outlook Express for it. Anyway, the GUI is a little differnt, and the new "tags" can be useful. I wouldn't spend and arm and a leg for it though. Oh, also, I haven't tried the Frontpage yet..probably won't *don't do a lot of web building* but looks nice although I know it's bloatware. |
