On April 3rd, I ordered a 256 meg stick of the OCZ Micro BGA advertised at that time as PC-166 (2/2/2). It arrived in three days. That's the only good thing I can say about The Overclockerz Store. ocz.safeshopper.com It failed to run Prime 95 Torture Test at 166 2/2/2, and failed to run at 166 3/2/2. It did, however, run at 3/3/2. Two days after I notified them about this, they downgraded their advertised specs to 166 3/2/2. Still overrated as far as what they sent me is concerned. OCZ overclockerz.com is still advertising this Micro BGA as PC-166 (2/2/2). Makes me wonder if the Overclockerz Store's "hand picked and tested" claim means that they sort out the crappy ones and ship them.
After more than a half-dozen e-mails back and forth in which I was asked to provide the same information over and over and told to increase my I/O voltage to 3.66, I told them that I would accept a replacement if they could provide me with what they advertised and what I had ordered and expected: PC-166 @ 2/2/2. The reply from Matthew K. Magill of The Computer Zone Inc. (?) was this: "Give me your original order number and date and I'll refund your money." I replied "Thank You." Yesterday he wrote me again asking me "Is this for exchange?" and gave me a RMA #. I don't know why he cannot answer a simple, direct question and why I am being made to jump through hoops. Maybe this whole operation is run by some high school kid in his bedroom!

Thank's Guy, I'll look into that. Since I posted that I've traded several more e-mails with them. They say their memory "test" didn't take into account "real world" applications, whatever that's supposed to mean. They're sorry, and they have derated the mem to 3/2/2. (mine will work at 3/3/2 or 2/3/2). They will send me a replacement but NO REFUNDS!!!! Which really sucks since I BOUGHT 2/2/2 PC-166 memory from them and deserve a refund. I don't think I'll be sending it back though because when you add up the shipping X 3, it starts looking more and more expensive!
Maybe on Monday I will talk to my credet card people if I can get past their "press this number and wait for Hell to freeze over" menue.
I'd be willing to accept a replacement if they send it first so I can make sure it works before I send this one back. Hell, they could end up having my money and me not having their product for who knows how long if I send this one back first! Also I would expect them to pay ALL SHIPPING costs since they falsly advertised and sold this product. The Attorney General's Office in Delaware likes to go after people for FRAUD!!

Thank you too, Random. I guess I'll be contacting both the BBB in Idaho and in Delaware. I'm usually a pretty easy going, laid back kind of guy but I really hate it when someone takes advantage of me. I'm glad all contact with OCZ was through e-mail and not phone calls because now I have plenty of ammunition... I mean, documentation!

Do a search about OCZ at MaximumPC forums, [H]ard Forums and at Techzone.com and you'll find all kinds of negative feedback about that place. Not a good place to buy from. |

Hello Edsbar60,
I "discovered" those sites sometime after getting screwed by OCZ. Looks like I'm a day late and more that a dollar short!
BTW - OCZ is now selling that memory for 15 bucks less than what I paid, so if anyone wants a crappy product with customer support from a retarded monkey, place your order today!
