I know some of you have run accross this at hardocp, but in-case you never visit. I'll let you in on some XP goodness
Can you say XP PRO for 48 bucks?
microsoft.com/partner/campaign/Winpro1.asp
add the www. (that way the traffic looks unique)
I got one several weeks back, the link wasn't working until now!

Okay i tried to get it but it asks for a company name to receive approval for download. While i could name the company i work for since it is listed, I prefer not to. is there a way around this?

I know several folks who "created" businesses specifically for the XP partners offer when it first came out. The lava lamp with the little cellophane XP logos is kinda groovy.

Yes there is a way around it. One of the first questions you'll be asked is if your a MS partner. Answer no. Make up a company name. Yes you'll have to fill out a surveyand answer a few questions, but for a legal copy of XP..that isn't asking much.

So you have to sign up for .NET! Not sure if I want to do that. Well two of my uncle's own there own business so I suppose I could use there Tax ID numbers. And does this mean I have to give them my credit card info for them to keep on file and for some kiddie hacker to steal.

ARrrgh you guys are killing me, this really isn't that difficult
1. Click on "Order Now" button (bottom right hand corner)
2. If you are not a Microsoft Certified Partner link
3. Choose a language
4. Register, then click finish
5. Make up a company name
- MS will try to ID your "business"
6. Since the business doesn't exist, click create
Tax ID, NOT REQUIRED!
7. Jump through the hoops, aka fill out the long-arse survey
8. A confirmation code will be sent to your email address
They are pretty quick, I got mine will writing this
9. Enter the code
10. Complete the order
[ ] I can't make it any easier folks. |
