I am thinking about getting a new T-Bird, in the 1-1.2GHz range. My question is, what is stopping me from buying an 1GHz 'C' chip(Meant for 133fsb), unlocking the multiplier, and running it on my 100MHz fsb?? By getting the 'C' chip it will probably be a later chip, and therefor a better overclocker(Hopefully). Also, if I upgrade my mobo in the future it will definately work in the new mobo. I just don't want to be stuck with a 1GHz chip that has to run at 750 on my 100MHz fsb.

I don't know which board you're using so take this with a grain of salt . . . but you SHOULD always be able to Under-Clock without any problems
I'd hit some user gropus decicated to your current Mobo, and see if anyone has already tried what you're thinking of and find out how they made out
They can write all the code they like: someone WILL crack it !
. . . I'm just hoping it's me |

Thanks Brain. I have an MSI K7T Pro 2A(Stupidest named motherboard of the year!!) mobo with BIOS adjusted multiplier and fsb settings. I'll see what I can find.
