My work is offering me a laptop for travel. I have been given a $1500 give or take a few bones budget. I have considered Dell seeing as I like there desktops so much.
Here is the kicker...
I have mass amounts of win98 lic. laying around and not enough pc's. Same applies to office 97. Now if I could find a good supplier of a barebones laptop, I could use the $1500 strictly on SETI crunching power... and install the needed software on my own.
Any ideas??? If not... what about an off the shelf brand... or atleast a "stay away from" warning.

We exclusively use Dell's where I work...and I have always thought them to be decent. So basically what I am saying is.... I don't know because I've never used anything but Dell aas far as laptops go...
