Anyone try out Front Line Forces yet? I have - and being based off the Half-Life TFC engine, you would think that the latency factors would be similar, but they aren't. It reminds of playing TFC before they put in the network optimization code - very laggy for me.

I have played both version 1 and 1.2. FLF is probably one of the best games graphically. The models and maps look great. It seems like 1.2 is faster. The guys run around like they are on speed. I don't think Version 1 was this bad. I don't know if the new netcode is in it or not, but I can't shoot squat. I was pretty good at Ver. 1, but now I can't seem to hit anything. Plus the speed of the guys is nuts, it seems too fast for me. I'm also getting tired of all these games going for the realistic shooting methods. They seem to want to make it almost impossible to shot anyone. I liked Version 1 but am disappointed in Version 1.2. Hopefully they correct some of the problems in what was once a fun game.

1.2a is supposed to out soon.

Quote:

Ok, in hopes of clarifying things and dispelling rumors, here are a couple tidbits of information.

¤ In the new patch, none of the weapons aside from the sniper rifle and SPAS were altered in any form.
¤ The "Breakdancing" corpses, funny black lines going across the screen as well as a couple other bugs are known and are in the process of being fixed. *Note that those two are already fixed*
¤ Currently the Admin Mod does not work with FLF 1.2 - the new weapons do NOT appear when you are using it
¤ Yes, there is a way now to vote people off of the server, as long as it is enabled on the server. Type listplayers in the console to get a list of people playing - each of who has an id assigned to them. Next type kickvote id_number (Ex kickvote 2) in order to start the vote, each player in the server who wishes to vote against that person must then do the same thing.

Now for the big news, sometime next week we will release a small patch which will fix all of the known bugs which have cropped up in this release. There will be some new features included which have been requested through the forums and e-mails sent to us (Such as numerical values for cap times being a cvar). But the two hottest issues which are being addressed are that of the suppressive fire feature and the new shotgun. Suppressive fire has been taken out completely, it will not even be left in as a server variable. The reason is simply that it did not work out quite as we had planned for it to. The new shotgun will have its power reduced a bit (not enough to cripple it, but it will not be quite as potent as it is currently) Once again there is no set date for the release of this patch, but it will be sometime next week. Keep your eyes on this site for more information on it as it becomes available.

I'll be glad for Suppressive fire to go. It was just dumb.

Is this a mod, or is it a complete game in itself?

It's a mod for Half-Life. It's downloadable at http://www.flfmod.com
