[edit]
I came across this while browsing and realized how wrong I was. That piece of shit Shuttle AK31 fried on me within 3 months. My new advice: get an ABIT!

One of the features of the ASUS A7V133 is the ability to run the memory to CPU clock ratio at 4:3, so that you can run PC133 memory at 133MHz while the processor bus runs at 100MHz. If you leave it at this setting and switch the processor bus from 100MHz to 133MHz, your memory may not be happy running at 133 x 4/3 = 178MHz. Can you verify that your memory to CPU ratio is at 1:1 ?

Could this possibly be based on the processor core technology between the two culprits? Meaning: Maybe a something between the old tbird core of the duron spitfire in comparison to the palamino core of the XP?
Yes in regards to the suggestions of all my fellow dawgs but someone has to have a suggestion regarding this? I recall a post with Jonathan involved explaining some differences between the two cores (sorry man I couldn't find it) something to do with SSE2 and the Athlon equivalent.
Hell I just dunno but I had to speak my drunk mind
The other day I was talking to my pet chicken, I told him if he kept it up I was going to choke him

I had a problem w/ a different board in upgrading from a T-Bird to XP. It required a new BIOS. Basically the same problem, BSOD, temps/BIOS settings were all fine, it was the actual BIOS that needed to be updated.

Mine wasent a BIOS thing. The BIOS was the newest. I got a new motherboard (Soltek 75DRV5) and new ram and everything is working fine now. |

You know, after my Shuttle fried after only 3 months (see previous post), I got an Epox 8KHA+ a month ago and got an XP1600+ a couple weeks ago and had nothing but problems. After running the processor for only a bit, it quit altogether. RMA'd everything. They will send a new XP1600+ and after they credit my card back, I will get the Abit KR7A. Seems like these XP processor's are really picky
BTW, I was using a Duron 850 and a 700 and no problems prior to that.
