Thermalright SK-6 with Delta fans

Only airflow in case is a few case fans in the back. I guess it wouldn't hurt to throw a few more fans on the front and get a breeze flowing through there.

Probably not. I just installed MBM5 and set it up last night. The only sensors that read anything for temperature read 76 or 77. They haven't changed much at all. I stopped SETI and just let the cpu's sit til this morning and the temp didn't drop a degree. So I figure its something I'm doing wrong.

Have AMD built a proper sensor into the CPU yet like Intel? I know they were going to do it but wasn't paying attention as to whether it was in the XP or some future processor.

If AMD have done it, do any mobos support it yet or are they all still using silly external components?

You have to tell MBM what kind of sensor you have (on the temperature setting page) ... it doesn't know by default ... can you you check your temps in the BIOS (they'll be close to the MBM readings when you have the right sensors set up) Confused:

AMD has the internal diode now ... board makers have yet to get it right (remember, it took them over a year to get it right with Intel's diode) ... wBig SmileBig Smilef !!!

Thanks Brain. Now I get much more reasonable temps. 51 and 47.

Also, as soon as I installed that and ran it, MBM all the sudden gave me 52 for cpu0 and 0 for cpu1. Not sure whats going on there but I'm not too worried about it. Thanks again.

i dunno . . . i stopped using MBM on non intel boards because of these types of inconsistancies

but this little thingy sits in the start menu, right next to my shortcut for Seti [Sticking out Tongue]

I have an Athlon XP 1900+ @ 1.66Ghz. It runs under SET around 50 deg.; I think if you're hovering around that area (which you seem to be doing now) you can set the shutoff temp. to as low as 60 or 65; a rise of ten degrees is quite significant and would definately indicate a problem.

Bundle up! It's degrees out.

i guess it depends on the ambient temp in the room

but if i were using the alarms, i'd probably do something close to jonathan's advice (I'd have to add 2-3 degrees because my server room is always hot)
