Maybe it should be made optional...got me. But a roving team that goes around meeting new people is a neat idea imho...Good luck either way.
both the team and the cruncher get the points. any points I earn go with me if I leave but I also earned those points for the team I'm with at the time so they stay with the team also. we find a lot of teams get in a race with someone else on a project, sometimes we get invited to one of the teams to help them win the race. we really don't care much who wins the race but it is fun for us. our goal is to crunch some numbers and have some fun doing it. |

I guess we can talk amongst ourselves.
Personally, I'm not too sure what I think about the whole mercenary thing. |

We have regular and dedicated crunchers, but we somehow lost the novelty. I don't want to put the whamy on it but SETI has been giving me lots of w/u lately I havn't had to beg in over a week. |

For me the transition to BOINC really took the novelty, literally, away for me. |

Boinc isn't being greedy by any means the last few days. I currently have 53 tasks to complete. |

bottom line for me was, is my electricity being used for something that will help someone in my lifetime. I saw where some changes were noticed and helped with mammary tumors in dogs in University of Penn. Hospital - saved the lives of several dogs and will be able to translate to tumors in people.
That is what keeps me in Folding@Home versus BOINC. (besides all the other people I have known depending on the research)
yeah, it takes the whimsy out of some of it if you look at it that way - but you can run your computers 24/7 without a guilty conscience. |
