Mexican Prailine is the newest flavor... Wink SmileTongue SmileBig Smile

New flavor from Blue Bell inspired by Mexican candy

Mexican Praline Ice Cream

BRENHAM - The newest ice cream from Blue Bell will have you saying, muy delicioso! Mexican Praline Ice Cream is a rich and creamy praline ice cream with chunks of tasty and uniquely textured Mexican pralines, roasted pecan pieces and a praline swirl.

“It’s a triple shot of praline with the ice cream, candies and swirl all combined into one half gallon,” said Carl Breed, director of marketing at Blue Bell. “The Mexican praline pieces have a very rich flavor that mix well with the pecans and praline sauce swirl.”

Mexican Praline Ice Cream was inspired by the praline candies found at many Mexican restaurants in Texas. “There are many varieties of Mexican pralines sold throughout the U.S.,” Breed added. “Our version has a taste similar to the Leche Quemada candy you find at the checkout counters at Mexican restaurants in our area. If you have never tried the candy, you should definitely have a bowl of the ice cream. It is really a great tasting flavor.”

Leche quemada is a popular Mexican candy made of caramelized sugar and milk. It has a slightly grainy texture and is traditionally topped with pecans. Mexican Praline Ice Cream is very similar, containing praline pieces and pecans.

Blue Bell combines cake and ice cream for one flavorful treat

BRENHAM - There is cake and there is ice cream, two sweet treats that complement each other quite well. But now, there is Cake and Ice Cream, served together as one tasty dessert in a half gallon from Blue Bell Ice Cream.

Cake and Ice Cream is a creamy vanilla ice cream with chocolate sprinkles, chocolate-coated cake pieces and a swirl of luscious chocolate icing.

“At birthday parties it’s very common to pair a scoop of ice cream with a slice of cake,” said Paul Kruse, Blue Bell CEO and president. “Our new flavor is making it a little easier for you. The chocolate coated cake pieces are a great combination with the vanilla ice cream. ”

Cake and Ice Cream is the first new flavor released from Blue Bell this year. “We’ve got some really great things planned,” Kruse added. “With ice cream the possibilities are endless. At Blue Bell we enjoy every minute of creating and testing new and flavorful ideas.”

Also look for Cherry Cheesecake Ice Cream and Nutty Chocolate Ice Cream in your grocer’s freezer this month. Cherry Cheesecake is a cheesecake ice cream blended with sweetened red tart cherries and graham cracker cheesecake pieces with a cherry sauce. Nutty Chocolate is a chocolate ice cream loaded with milk chocolate-coated pecans, dark chocolate-coated peanuts, white chocolate-coated almonds and roasted walnuts.

Cake and Ice Cream will be available in stores beginning in March.

My favorite blue bell flavor is the homemade strawberry vanilla... however my wife grew up in Lamars Iowa so I have to sneak it under the radar.

Another new flavor...Summer Berries! Tongue Smile

Quote:
New flavor from Blue Bell sure to keep you cool this summer

BRENHAM - Summer is arriving a little early this year, and you’ve got Blue Bell Ice Cream to thank. The Texas-based ice cream producer has created the perfect flavor to usher in the warm days ahead, Summer Berries Ice Cream.

Summer Berries is a refreshing, citrus ice cream mixed with strawberries, blueberries and swirls of raspberry and blackberry sauces.

“We’ve combined the best tasting berries with our great tasting ice cream for a very refreshing new flavor,” said Ricky Dickson, vice president of sales and marketing for Blue Bell. “There are chunks of strawberries and blueberries in every bite of Summer Berries Ice Cream. It’s the kind of ice cream that you can enjoy while relaxing on your back porch at the end of a long, hot summer day.”

Summer Berries Ice Cream will be available in grocery stores beginning in May.

Other fruit-filled flavors now available from Blue Bell are Cherry Vanilla - a creamy vanilla ice cream with maraschino cherry halves, and also look for Southern Hospitality - Homemade Vanilla with chunks of pineapples, roasted pecans and a strawberry sauce swirl.

Happy Tracks... Tongue Smile

New flavor from Blue Bell will put a smile on your face

BRENHAM - At Blue Bell they say happy ice cream comes from happy cows and the newest flavor is a perfect example, Happy Tracks Ice Cream.

Happy Tracks is a creamy vanilla ice cream loaded with chocolate-coated peanut butter cups and a dark chocolate fudge swirl.

"There is a whole lot of flavor packed into a half gallon of Happy Tracks," said Ricky Dickson, vice president of sales and marketing for Blue Bell. "There is vanilla, chocolate and peanut butter in every bite. What more could you want?"

Chocolate lovers will enjoy the thick fudge swirl throughout the ice cream. "The dark chocolate fudge swirl is what gives Happy Tracks its distinct taste," Dickson added. "Its consistency and flavor blend perfectly with the smooth ice cream."

Happy Tracks Ice Cream is now available in stores.

The Summer Berries flavor is pretty good. Not too sweet or heavy. The blueberries and strawberries have a good fresh blend. I would give this one a big thumbs up. Big SmileTongue Smile

Caramel Kettle Crunch - New Blue Bell Flavor for National Ice Cream Month

BRENHAM - In honor of July, National Ice Cream Month 2010, Blue Bell Creameries is introducing a brand new flavor, Caramel Kettle Crunch Ice Cream, a creamy vanilla ice cream with crunchy caramel-coated popcorn and a smooth caramel sauce swirl.

Caramel Kettle Crunch was inspired by more than one American food tradition--beginning with popcorn, which was discovered by Native Americans thousands of years ago. According to one source, when Columbus landed on San Salvador, he discovered the natives eating popcorn and wearing necklaces and headdresses made of popcorn.

Americans quickly fell in love with popcorn. During the Great Depression, popcorn was especially useful. A bag of popcorn sold for five or ten cents. It was easy to make and an inexpensive source of nourishment—one of the few little luxuries people could still afford. During World War II, sugar was rationed so Americans turned to salty snacks like popcorn—most commonly eaten, as today, at the movies.

Nowadays there are many variations on the basic theme of popcorn. One company boasts that it offers over 160 flavors of popcorn! But one of the most popular versions currently is “kettle corn”—a variety with its own colorful history. There are various stories about the origins of “kettle corn.” Some say Americans began cooking the distinctive slightly sweet, slightly salty kettle corn during the 1700s. Popcorn was cooked in lard in iron kettles and then sweetened with molasses, sugar or honey before salt was added.

Dutch settlers in Pennsylvania may have been the first to produce the treat. Others say kettle corn was popularized by German farmers in Missouri or by cowboys on the trail. In any case, kettle corn was very popular for a time, fell somewhat out of favor and then was revived in the 2000s, especially at 19th-century “living history” events, as a delicious treat from the past. Kettle corn has become a popular snack again, most commonly seen at fairs and arts and crafts festivals—and now part of a new ice cream flavor, just in time for National Ice Cream Month!

President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July to be National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of July to be National Ice Cream Day in 1984. After all, who doesn’t love a bowl of ice cream on a hot July day?

Blue Bell’s Caramel Kettle Crunch combines the slightly sweet, slightly salty crunch of “kettle corn” with creamy ice cream and a silky caramel swirl. It will undoubtedly be the new dessert hit of the summer!
