|
Does anybody know of a source where I can get ribbon cables that are used in laptops?
One of my guys has an HP Pavilion dv9000. It was having start up issues, and acting as though it was overheating and didn't seem as though the cooling fan was coming on. I decided to take it apart and the amount of crap you have to do to get to the cooling fan was just ridiculous. I'm talking like you pretty much have to disassemble the entire laptop.
In the process I tore the ribbon cable that goes from power switch to motherboard, so it won't power on now. On the cable it says KOTL E220709 AWM 20798 80C 60V VW-1. Anybody know where I can get one of those? I searched around on HP's website and came up with nothing. It's just a short ribbon cable with 12 pins on each end. |

is there a part number on the switch itself? You might be able to get the switch/cable assembly. |

Yep, that's the one Bam. Turns out it doesn't matter though. I robbed the cable off the media switches to power it back up and it's still having the same issue, and I know that the fan is working. So it's getting sent back to HP for service, I'll let them deal with it. |

Was there any crap in the cooling duct?
Did someone take it apart before and dorked it up with some crud under the HSF?
Was the fan even working? |
