I am beginning to think that Microsoft will push everyone to use SilverLight just by recoding their entire website with it. And, because everyone has to go there to get updates and read about why their computer is not working, everyone will have to install SilverLight just to get any information from them.
I just can't figure out why they continue to want to control everything computer related. Basic economics tells you that you should only produce what you are good at. They are trying to be good at everything and as we have seen with some of their recent products, they aren't putting out a very good product with some of them. |

If they make Silverlight a prerequisite for finding information on their website, I will stop using their website. I barely use it as it is, as there are many better designed websites with obscure fixes for Microsoft's broken products. |

WSUS can be set up by anyone to work as an update server over the Imterweb, IIRC... That should do it!

I personally am glad Adobe is getting a little competition on the Flash front. I know there are other products out there, but Flash has pretty much dominated this area for the past 12 years. Hopefully Silverlight will push them to innovate a little more. |

I don't really like either. I'm no web developer, but I get stuck doing some work on it. I don't like doing anything that requires a software download/install. Sure, most everyone has flash already, but not all do and I hate requiring people to install something just to view a website. |

What area is that then? Web-developer wankery?
I fail to comprehend the rationale for its use beyond games and streaming media (kudos to Youtube for finally coming up with a problem to which Flash is the solution). |
