|
I've two single-partition hard disks (one running Linux, one running Windows) which I want to move to separate partitions on a single, larger, hard disk.
Got a couple of questions about this.
1) Is there a particular boot loader better suited towards being installed after I frig around with the partitions? If not, I'll just grab grub and learn how to install that.
2) If I stick Windows on the first partition, how will Linux handle suddenly being shunted from hda1 to hda2? Will it cope without any problems, or will I have to edit all sorts of config files to reflect its new location? Or, should I just leave Linux on hda1 and put Windows on hda2 since Windows should (in theory) ignore any partitions it can't read and keep its existing drive letter assignments?
I'll go ahead and experiment anyway; I just thought I'd throw the questions out to see if anyone knew a definitive answer. If I find a definitive answer I'll post it here. |

you should only need to edit /ect/fstab IIRC
as for everything else... pick a boot loader... any boot loader... have fun |
