I inherited a site that uses Coppermine but I cannot seem to get support for it so am looking for something else. The site is for high school and middle school dances and is undergoing a redesign and move to a new server and out of the Joomla environment - yippee. The chaperons take pictures of the kids and then upload them into albums based on date/dance; there are over 2000 images in the dB. Only admins will upload images but it has to be robust, work off a dB and have the ability to name folders, sort and most importantly have a feature that watermarks images automatically.
Does anyone have experience with anything else? I would be willing to stick with Coppermine but the support just doesn't seem to be very responsive. I would like to stay with freeware but am open if t means good support; I'll even hire someone (under $100US) to setup Coppermine on the new server for me.
Thanks! |

What issues are you having with Coppermine, or is it just install related? |

The main thing is installing and maintaining the original files. I created a dB and installed it to a test location. What I couldn't figure out was how to import the dB. Maybe I have to do it on the dB side but since my dB skills are minimal I thought I should ask first.
Besides install/setup the only thing they don't like is how the albums display and I couldn't get the watermark to work.
This is the last piece of the puzzle. |

I have always heard good things about Coppermine and Gallery. But the only one I have ever used is My Photo Gallery. It is Perl based, which probably isn't robust enough for you.
I have always wanted to try Joomla. Are you changing over to another CMS. |

Extreme is helping me port Coppermine over.
I didn't like Joomla because I don't have the time (or inclination really - though I should) to learn it. It seems quite robust with many plugins and other built in features. |
