Christ almighty, but that's ugly.

What's that on the back? A carrying handle? And what is that hideous thing bolted on to the front, where a normal Charger would have a vertical grill & light assembly?

Its a NASCAR thing... they were required to build production versions of the cars that were being raced. Not sure if that is still a requirement.

Fear is not a big NASCAR fan... NHRA Drag racing is more his thing.

Last I heard NASCAR does require that you have a production model that your car is built off of... however that just means your completely custom nascar has a ford or chevy logo on it some where not a single part has to ever have seen a production line.

Calling it "stock car racing" is a shame, there ain't a damn thing stock about them cars no more...

As for Drag racing my uncle races some of those folks... he has a super stock though (or "outlaw supper stock" if that sounds more right...)

Personally I like racing where the drivers have to be able to turn, both ways (prefferable sideways, and I'll even pass up right hand turns if they are doing all the lefts sideways....) And certainly not on pavement.

Don't get me wrong drag races are cool, but the first 100th of a second deciding the race... just kinda dull to watch the last 4-10 seconds at that point...

Maybe our opinion differs... a blown engine, if your in the pits, is cool (provided it's not yours.). but heck the pits are cool any where that doesn't pit out during the race... people trying to get shit hammered out before the next heat, and get cars pushed out of the way, trying to put the engine block out before it melts through the rest of the car...
I spent several races (pushing the car in and out of the trailer, grabbing new tires, refueling the car, grabbing tools and parts from the trailer...) in the pits at a 1/2 mile dirt oval for a friend of my dads...

I was talking about from the spectator's point of view... from the racing team's perspective... it's a serious downer... but I also didn't state whether the excitement was good or bad either, just that there is LOTS of it.
