I can TOP your holy crap. My brother takes that bridge everyday. He called me right after this story broke in the news. He had just crossed that bridge & it collapsed five minutes later Shocked Shocked Needless to say he was pretty worked up.

Please say a prayer for those who didn't make it.... 20 missing so far.

Slashdot reply: You don't use programs? What, you put the cat-5 in your mouth and try to *taste* the intruders?

An infinite number of monkeys pounding away on keyboards will eventually produce a report showing that Windows is more secure and has a lower TCO, than linux.

I seem to recall, through the weekend's alcoholic haze, that we were discussing construction/engineering mishaps, one example being where the plans were flawed but the construction crews followed them precisely.

Could this be something like that?

I believe When I was making that drunken conversation I was reffering to another one of our bridges, Wakota Bridge

which isn't done yet, and is already crumbling... Rolling Eyes

The 40-year-old bridge was rated as "structurally deficient" two years ago and possibly in need of replacement, Minneapolis' Star Tribune reported. The newspaper said that rating was contained in the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Bridge Inventory database.

And then someone says, "I've heard it's not terrorism." Oh gee, ya think?

My, how quickly we've been conditioned to think that any damage to infrastructure must be due to terror (as opposed to terra), so that anything which occurs which isn't due to terrorism is seen as odd.

Who is this hypothetical person of which you speak?

Does that person work for the Media?
