Ok, this is an interesting thing.
Quote:...Always anxious to try new things, we asked to test wireless signals leaving the building – including wireless access points, radio frequencies – and potential vulnerabilities in those hot little hands-free headsets.
To perform the work, we purchased a commercially available radio scanner. These devices are available at any local electronics retailer at prices ranging from $80 to several thousand dollars. We chose a scanner capable of monitoring frequencies from 900-928 Mhz and the 1.2 Ghz ranges, which is where many of the popular hands-free headsets operate.
So your headset is not secure. Also I wonder about wireless keyboards. |

Doh channel stuff. No wireless device is particularly secure. Not even so-called secure ones. Bluetooth is crackable, DECT is fairly insecure, GSM is a published spec and can be bugged, WiFi is well known for its insecurity, etc.
Of course, wires aren't much better. But hey. |

Yea, It took me a while to explain that concept to some of the people around here. If it's wireless, and not encrypted, it's not all that difficult to listen in on. We picked up encrypted wireless headsets instead. A little more pricey but worth it. |

Slashdot reply: You don't use programs? What, you put the cat-5 in your mouth and try to *taste* the intruders?
An infinite number of monkeys pounding away on keyboards will eventually produce a report showing that Windows is more secure and has a lower TCO, than linux.
