I heard on the news that since Congress just passed a couple of more Tax bills, folks shouldn't bother filing taxes early this year or before the middle of February as the tax laws haven't been sent into the local audit offices/computers until then. ....so that no refunds will be processed.....
that is what they said on the local NBC affiliate, anyway |

If you can't wait the five minutes it takes Uncle SAM to zap it into your bank account, I will gladly give you a refund anticipation loan, for just 32% of the total. |

Thats only if it applies to you. I.E. My sister has to wait since she has a learning credit and the AMT items aren't finalized/updated in all systems.
Me, I processed mine just fine, and got my direct deposit sometime today. |

I don't know if that is true for all filers, I think it may depend on circumstances. My accountant told me this year that I would have to wait until after Feb11 to file because of my wife's tuition statement because of some stuff that congress passed. It's only a week away, no biggie. |

Same here, gotta wait till the 11th for everything. I already did all the paperwork however. |

I got a tax refund check from the IRS last week. Funny thing, was, it was for last year's tax (ie 2006), I had paid them extra money (on advice from my accountants, when filing happened, after extensions), and the IRS has yet to actually send me a note explaining why I'm receiving back 30x more than what I sent them.
It makes me wonder if I got my estimateds right for this tax year. I guess this foreign tax credit stuff is beyond me, and now I wonder about my accountants. Although, I am happy they were on the "pay too much" side. |

That letter usually precedes the refund.

I would fire them posthaste if they can't get it right. |
