I'm mainly fishing for ideas here. I've made up in the past some cd's for employees at my work that has collections of software that they can use for free to help them "Secure" their windows machine at home. It's been a while since I have updated this and I'm looking for ideas on what others may think. Everyone here can use McAffee, Symantec, or Trend for free. I the past I put all three of them on, however I found that people were just installing everything, thus creating issues, so I am only putting one AV on this disk. I am leaning towards Symantec, as they may be more familiar with it. I also put Spybut Search and Destroy on there, and Firefox.
Also, as random other stuff, I put Irfanview, and openoffice on the CD. If they have a free alternative, they won't be looking to pirate stuff, and all the things that come with that. They do get to purchase MS office for $20 though a Home use program, though so I usually tell them that too.
I do a little write-up in there of what each does. I generally have the opinion that the more secure a user is at home, the more likely they won't argue with me when I secure things at work.
Does anyone have any other ideas for software to add to this? |
