Post Posted: Wed Dec 26, 2007 12:54 pm   Post subject: Search-Daily Hijacked Me! Reply with quote Back to top

I don't know how I got it, but it's a BIG pain in the AS*!!! I can't search the internet with it. I know it's a Browser Hijacker, but I can't find the source. This is what happens:
I perform a search on Google (doesn't matter what). When I click on any of the link results, it starts to go to the proper link....untill the Search-Daily kicks in and re-directs me to some other junk!!
You literally see all the browser changes as it goes from saying Search-Daily, to displaying a IP address, to saying 'Jump', to finally land you at some off the wall site. Sometimes it's insurance, other times it's E-Bay. This process happens within 5 seconds.

Wether or not any of them are legit sites, I don't know. All I know is nothing I have tried has fixed or even detected it's trace. I have searched the net (from another computer) to find resources on this. None of these solutions were able to correct it. Any help would be awsome.

I already did S&D Spybot and ad-aware. They didn't detect anything (there definitions are current). I'm going to try the last two 'CWShredder' and 'UBCD4WIN' and see how it goes.
Thanx,
Toby

HijackThis could be useful if you know how to use it. CastleCops has a nice guide on using HijackThis to help find the troublesome elements. Since you can't browse the internet on that computer, I'd suggest saving a HijackThis log file and bring it to another computer so you can compare it to the CastleCops guide.
