i have recently installed a d-link WDA-2320 adapter in my computer.
everything started fine i installed the drivers then powered down and put the card in and booted and everythin worked i connected and all.
then i couldnt use internet. but while i was using my other comp to see what was wrong the internet apperently started working...in short i had 90 new updates for xp. after they installed one update did not work so once the comp rebooted and internet was nonfunctional i installed this last update.
and then happy blue screen time...
i got several freezes before booting and a few IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD's i booted in safe mode...ironicly my internet worked and everything seemed fine...but trying in normal warrants the same problems..once again i try safe mode...only it says "you cant use safe mode because you have not activated windows" or something like that...so i try normally again...now it is in an endless loop involving a BSOD like.... MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
one time some random popup said some error message but my comp crashed into a mem manegement stop message before i could read it...plz help if theres anything that can be done
srry for the long post |

long post?... nah... people will probably want more info... but I would run a memory tester on it first off... the memory management stop messages makes it sound like the memory is bad. you may want to pull out the memory and hose the sockets with contact cleaner if you have it... and then reseat them. unplug the system first to prevent shorting something one the always on lines. definitely blow off as much dust as you can (duster can - compressed air - etc) before reseating the memory. It might be a dusty contact... but the intermittent failure makes it sound like bad bits in memory.
I have a floppy based diagnostics disk hosted on my server at
http://www.myhomeintexas.us/media/pccheck.zip
you can also download the ultimate boot cd and burn it if your system can burn and boot from CDs... you may want to do the downloading and burning on someone else's system or another system of yours that isn't having problems to insure good clean disks.
the ultimate boot cd is available at:
www.ultimatebootcd.com |

Try it with one mem stick installed...see how that fairs. If it's working...try the other stick by itself. If that works, try it with both. |

This should help check out the memory as being an issue = memtest86 download
Also pick up a psu tester - $20.00 usualy at one of the comp stores. |

ok...BSOD problem gone...internet problem back
i cannot use internet booting windows normally...however booting in safe mode (which im doing now) allows it to work...WTH?
i tried checking to see if it was winsock...wasnt messed up...i even reinstallled it but still not working. i checked the network status and it works..but my windows updates dont download right.........
on top of all that i think it could have something to do with dhcp because in my event log there are quite a few error and warnings involving it...what now?
after checking it it says..."your computer has lost lease to its ip adress" or something like that |

Ah...then it could be some bad/wrong drivers that's loaded?
Er...scratch that.
Is yer router setup fer WEP/WPA? Have you tried it without security enabled? |

hate to say this and make things more difficult but... it is a fully unsecured network (as bad as it sounds) i never enabled it i even turned on UPnP mode (for my xbox 360)
i recently got a stop error when using CMD prompt IPCONFIG/ALL
it was DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL i think thats what it said but im sure you guys know what i mean... im sure this means a driver issue...currently im booted in safe mode and when i check my drivers all are working properly except SYMTDI but i try to start it and it says that its disabled in safe mode...so its not the problem.
im really confused now.
is there some diagnosis tool i could run and tell you guys what it says or something? maybe that would reveal more light as to my problem i dunno.
my router is a belkin...unsure of the exact model....my adapter is a d-link WDA-2320
so far ive not done much..and ive eliminated (mostly) malware as the cause but its still possible. Any ideas? |
