well the choice is clear.
Vista sucks,
Leopard sucks,
switch to Linux?
So I know people are usually resistant to change, and say that new operating systems suck.
But no one said that about tiger that I recall... and absolutely no one bitched about mac OS X.
I do recall people bitching about XP when it came out, but after sp1 that pretty much died off (except for the uneducated) I don't recall any one bitching about either NT4 or 2000 when they were new. Even 98 got along just fine. every one bitched about ME.
The only conclusion I can draw is that operating systems manufactures have stopped trying. but their PR budget has gone through the roof in the mean time. Why else would both of them be promising the sky and delivering a steaming pile? |

I do recall Jobs saying that Apple was a hardware company, not a software company. If that is the case they should sell off the Operating System to someone else who can develop it. |

sooo... the choice is not really clear to me. Are you saying the clear choice is to run a Linux distro on the dear Macintosh hardware platform?

Sure. If you have a modern mac, then it is the same hardware anyways. If you have a the older Gx based macs, many distro's have a PPC version.

Yeah, but isn't the whole point to make the overall system work better?

I read Linus Torvald runs Linux on a PPC. dual G5's or some such non-sense as I recall.
