I'm using Thunderbird 2.0.0.9 and it and the previous release don't connect to my ISP very fast. Sometimes I even get a time out error.
Outlook Express doesn't get it and seems to connect faster.
Are their any other Email programs that are worth trying and safe ?
I'm using PC-cillin Internet suite 2007 for virus and firewall if it makes any difference and Windows XP. |

I've had the interface with the virus scanner (the email scanner will proxy the connection to scan the email as it comes in) cause that problem before. It may just be a case of large emails. might try a different AV suite... like AVG since it's free... just to make sure that's not the issue first. |

I use TB 2.0.0.10 and connect to 5 different accounts in under a second. |

I stopped using a POP3 client a while ago, and now use only web-based (gmail).
I don't have to look at SPAM, and all that other nonsense no longer exists.
I just realized they upped the archive size to 5 GB

GMail now supports IMAP, should you wish to use it. |
