Well, Cryin' Ryan Smyth played his first game as a visitor in Edmonton.

What amazes me is that a few tears from a supposed tough guy seems to absolve him of all blame with the fans. I mean, if Cryin' Ryan really wanted to stay in Edmonton, all he had to was sign on the dotted line.

It's funny though, fans say "he's not greedy, look he's crying about the trade". If he wasn't greedy, he'd have taken the paltry ~$5 million the Oilers offered him and stayed in Edmonton.Rolling Eyes

A few people booed him last night in true oil fan style (See Comrie and Pronger), but most of the fans blame Lowe, not Smyth. Maybe Lowe needs to shed a few tears too ...

After looking at ticket prices this year ... up almost 100% .... Really now? WTF is the NHL thinking. I'm not even the slightest bit interested.

Edmonton fans do have a way of letting you know how they feel.

It would cost nearly a $1,000 for 2 tickets in the lower bowl (including parking and
incidentals) of a Panthers game, so I am pretty much out of this loop for a long time..

If you don't care, then give us our hockey team back... That way I can stop listening to people in my state whine about how your state stole them...

ow...that was cold.

big business has a hold on hockey, boys. It's not about the game anymore. If the fans won't shell out the $$$ the franchise moves to where the loonies are! Wink

Ah yes, the North Stars. Now that was when hockey was hockey. Winnipeg feels the same way about the yotes.

More than just Winnipeg feels that way ... I'd love to see the Jets back in Winnipeg.

...

A few years ago, one of the problems for Canadian teams was that most players wanted their salary in US dollars, I wonder how the greedy bastards feel now that it is costing them money to be paid in US.

The players are for the most part, just dumb pawns. The franchises own the players/teams and get rich off the game and discard them when they become hurt or a liability.

The players need to wise up and make sure they have a future iincome/retirement, health care, plan for the future, and give themselves some bargaining power. Of course it goes both ways and I could argue both sides.

Are the concessions crappy - ticket prices too high...parking a nightmare...traffic a mess....stadium a pigsty....management sucks?...Can't blame it on the players! Blame it on the owner who wants ROI (return on investment) and won't put money back into the team. my 2cents Smile

I stopped watching hockey regularly the year that a desert could get a team and Hamilton couldn't.
