I figured it was about time I broadened my culinary repertoire, so I signed up for a basic cookery class. Tonight I made macaroni-cheese and apple crumble.

How does the macaroni and cheese blend in to the apple crumble so well?
You must really work at breaking down the bits of macaroni.

I assume it was a good sharp cheese.

See that pot off to the right in the top photo? That's the mac & cheese. It's not as interesting, so no pics of it.

Mmmm.... Apple Crumble... Haven't had that in ages.

Goes well by itself, with custard or with Ice Cream Smile

When I was a wee bairn, my mother's sour apple crumble was a treat. I think this has my mother's beaten for sourness. Tastes great, but it hurts to eat. It's giving me acid burn. Well, either it's more sour, or my stomach is more delicate now than it used to be.

Yes, and bangers & mash is our national dish.

Well, besides chicken tikka, that is.

I made a peach cobbler and was disappointed. I thought I was making peach crumble. I kept looking at it thinking, "batter? why am I making a batter?" It turned out ok but wasn't hitting the sweet-tooth spot I had.
