Wasn't sure where else to put this so a general cat. should do. Found this by chance, its an interesting read on different types of drive "standards" proposed over the past 10-15 years. Thought someone else might find this interesting as well.

and how many here still have some of those relics stuck in a drawer somewhere...
I know I used to have two of of Quantm BigFoots...they might still be in a box somewhere around here. I guess that' the "advantage" to living near where some of these things were once made... |

I've got a couple of SyQuest SyJet-S removable cartridge hard-drives and a dozen cartridges here. I just recently quit using my Epson 5¼+3½" combination floppy drive. I'm still using a Pioneer 106S slot-load DVD-ROM drive. I didn't have a Quantum Bigfoot, but I did have a Seagate ST296N half-height 5¼" SCSI drive in my Amiga 2000 back when nearly all hard-drives had gone to the 3½" third-height form factor. |

I have 2 atapi zip 100 drives and 3 parallel port zip 100 drives... the only other relics I have are related to 386's and an atari 800xl. |

That is one interesting page! In fact the whole site is great!
Only thing of those I have experience with is the Zip. The first one I had was a Zip-100 SCSI in the 5½ format. It served me well until the Click of Death took it.

I have a rather large collection of odd computing devices myself, all from the recycling center on post. At least 3 parallel port zip drives, a box of 8 inch floppies (anyone have a 8" drive laying around?), a few double height hard drives, a complete IBM XT (With double DIN harddrive and floppy drive intact), a few 5 1/4 drives and at least 1 combo drive, and god knows what else. The wife says its junk, I say it's history. |

That is what the hard card is in. 520mb's of monochrome goodness (or it would be if I still had the monitor... some one tossed it out when I wasn't looking.) |

What got me interested in this site is, I have come into the possesion of a Bigfoot hard drive which got me looking for features, firmware upgrades, etc. I eventually found the Odd drives area. I also have an old Road Runner parallel CD-ROM drive, info can be found here Distecand here Specs, the drive is slower than molasses but still works. |
