What are the pros and cons of using the standard Molex power connectors vs the newer SATA power connectors on hard drives?

New sata connectors allow for hot swapping... or so I understand...

though most SATA drives, and cards/motherboards, don't support that ...

I could have sworn that win xp sees the sata drives as a usb connection....... I will have to check it out when I get home from work.

If you have a drive with both types of power connector, it shouldn't matter which one that you use. The 4-pin Molex connector is more secure, while the SATA power connector is more compact.
