So I just recently had a birthday, and as such It is time for my grandmother to get me a present (she always knows just what to get me, cause usually I buy it for my self... rules are that it has to be something I wouldn't normally buy for my self, no groceries or electric bills, and I have to tell her what it is, so nothing illegal or immoral by grandma's standards.)

most recently grandma has gotten me watches, headlights for my car...

This time around however I'm looking for some arrows. I don't hunt, just target shooting, currently with a 45 recurve.

Right now I'm shooting what is left of a dozen Easton gamegetters but they are aluminum and drop like rocks at 40 yards. not to mention my father split one of them, so there are 2 on display in his basement, and with bent arrows, lost arrows, I'm down to 5 arrows now a days.

So I'm thinking about switching to carbon arrows. reasonable priced.

I was looking at these

It has been a long time since I've bought arrows (about one remarkable shot by my father, and 5 lost/bent arrows ago)

Any one have any experience in this area, or better still with some good reasonably priced arrows?

Don't know about chicago, but here in Minneapolis walking around with a stung bow out side of a case is the same as brandishing a fire arm (legally speaking)

Though he's got a nice take down (I'd love to get a take down, but I'd have to pay for it... and that being said, my current bow does fine.)

and I've never seen the movie, though with a still shot like that maybe it is worth finding a copy of it...

$70/dozen.

and that is reasonably priced compared to say... an Easton x10 which as you can see from the same site is significantly more costly.

But I think I can deal with upto .006 of an inch bend over 32 inches, and all of 5 grams more weight per arrow; particularly when it saves me $300.

I don't shoot much any more but I used to shoot a lot when i was in hs. I found that unless you are hunting or competition shooting, the trade of for carbon isn't worth the cost diff. However, I also shot a 70lb compound so distance wasn't really and issue. $70 is pretty dang reasonable for any high grade arrow. it couldn't hurt to give it a shot and see how you like it.

Really know what they are doing. After buying my arrows at Dick's, I was not prepared for how meticulous they were! The close-out prices are good as they are cutting the shafts and mounting them to order.

not a bad set of deals there at all... fletched, knocked, and inserted arrows are going the same as straight shafts normally.

So after a really good round yesterday, I have 1 arrow left that is straight (They kept hitting at weird angles, first the hay bail then each other, so I moved out to 40 yd.s and after sighting in I put 1 dead center bullseye on the target spot that was already up there... drove the nail that was holding it up clean into the bail.... and the rest of them kept twisting sideways in flight and throwing them selfs off course... which of course meant they hit the chain holding the haybail, or other things, and really didn't help the straightness... ) These finally won out. Most of the folks I new up in Michigan preferred them, I really don't know why, but when you see that, you tend to form a basis in your head that is hard to get past..

Should be here some time this week (in time for fathers day maybe even....) let you know how they do compared to my old aluminum ones.

I got them today, FS Archery really impressed me... They did not have what I ordered in stock, so they upped me to the newer model arrow, I still got the close out discount, but they charged me the difference in the non-close out prices between the two.

went out shooting with my dad (it is fathers day weekend after all) and they are FAST! I resighted in at 20 yards, my father who shoots with out sights, was really thrown off (he was also shooting a 65lb 4 wheel browning tracker, vs. my 45 lb bear recurve) by how the new ones didn't drop... (and they really hardly dropped at all from the tracker at 20 yds. wandering back to 40 yards, and sighting in briefly there, they are FAST arrows, they did drop from the recurve a bit that far back, but that is to be expected.

glad they came through for you....usually folks don't stay in business that long in a niche market unless they are making people happy. Smile
