So did I. All that means is that ICMP Echo packets aren't being acknowledged. The important bit is that translation from name to IP address occurred. That proves DNS is working, and all that remains is to work out why traffic on ports 80 (web) and 21 (FTP) is being stopped.

Any Ideas ?[/quote:396eeeab8b] Hi, Had the same problem which only occured in a windows 2000 domain set up with the win xp machines, the win 2000 machine were fine. Anyhows, the soluion is DNS on the local server. Navigate to the domain controller (the one with active directory), and go to start - admin tools - DNS - right click the server - select properties - forwarders - enable forwarders - enter your ISP primary DNS server - apply. Viola You should be ok now.

DeeCee ... My website isn't on my machine, I don't have a server. It is on my ISP's server.
That's a lot of stuff there, pretend I don't know what it all means. Confused

So the problem exists on Madisonriver.net, in that its peering with mebtel (or grics) is screwed.
