So here's the deal.
Farmboy has a couple SMB shares set up on his Mac (using SharePoints ). He uses XBMC on his Xbox to stream legally aquired video content to his TV.
The username, password and IP address of Farmboy's mac has been entered into the relevant place in the XBMC config file but for some reason the XBox cannot find any SMB shares on the network. The only way Farmboy has been able to work around this is to start an instance of Win XP in a VM. Once XP has been started, XBMC finds the SMB shares. At this point XP can be shut down again and XBMC will continue to see the SMB shares until the Mac is rebooted.
Anyone have any idea on why Farmboy needs to start XP so that XBMC can see his SMB shares on his Mac? |
