And that title wasn't just to get you to look at this post. Here's the deal: I recently opened an account at two online banks, ING Direct and Virtual Bank's eMoney Market (both are FDIC insured and 4.5%+ interest). I have a ton of referrals to give out (like 95 for VB and 50 for ING). A referral to VB nets you $20 and a referral to ING nets you $25. Here's the catch: You have to open with an initial deposit of $100 (VB) or $250 (ING), which you can transfer directly from your current checking/savings, and leave it in there for 30 days. After 30 days you can withdraw the money and close the account. That's it....if you currently have $350 sitting in a bank account collecting dust, here's a quick way to make $45 and get a higher interest bearing account to boot.
If you're interested, just send me a PM with your email address and first name and I'll get the referrals out. Let me know if you want ING, VB, or both. It really is free money. |

Yeah, those have been around for a while (I follow the personal finance scene pretty closely) - I haven't gotten around to opening an ING account yet since I really haven't had the need and their interest rates are lagging behind both Emigrant and HSBC. I'm waiting until HSBC is no longer offering the 6% on new money transfers before I consider putting a deposit somewhere else. |

Yeah, I have an Etrade account bearing 5.05%...I'm just using these two for the easy money. My $350 would be sitting earning 1/12 of a 5.05% for a month, or it can earn 12% for a month (around 150-160% APR if you do the math)....only takes about 15 minutes of total work to set them up. |
