After searching through the forums it appears no one else has asked this question.

Why was our beloved LBD down? Crying or Very sad

The was mass pandomonium in the chat, and vigils with roombas going too and fro. And we can't forget the black angus clearing the "Possible Icy" roads in SA.

The site was down because Lunarpages wasn't able to process my credit card payment. However, when I called them, and got a nice man named Giovanni, and repeated my credit card details to him, it all went through just fine. Oh yeah, it's the same credit card they've been taking payments for LWD since November.

So the upshot is that the credit card payments are now up to date, the site is back online, and the cpanel is working again too, as well as some other stuff what wasn't working right.

Most hosts notify you at least 2 weeks in advance if there is a payment problem. This gives you a chance to arrange an alternate payment method before they take you offline. Do they not have this policy?

Beats me. They have my email, they have my phone, they have my address, they were taking credit card payments off the same credit card for LWD, what more did they need...

I loved how the page provided by lunar indicated that there was technical difficulties, but the url indicated suspended.page Rolling Eyes

Glad to see LBD back up and running again!

I don't think we'll have any more of these problems now they've got the details successfully registered.

If we do, then we'll change hosts. Although I don't have a lot to complain about with these guys.

I would say a complaint from you is needed. Their action is unacceptable. I would find out what their policy is on that and figure out what went wrong.

Before I had my own dedicated server I was being hosted by a company who processed my CC monthly. A couple times the card did not go through and they quickly emailed me to let me know. You never know when a card may or may not go through. It's not necessarily because your card is over the limit - it might have simply expired, or there may be a hold on your account (happens if you spending habits change suddenly), etc..

Believe me, there was nothing wrong with my credit card. I shall probably send some sort of complaint to them, but Fido warned me about their customer service being run by muppets before. The same thing happened to him, I don't know if you guys remember when it was.

Oh c'mon, Ed. With all your Russian "contacts" you couldn't come up with a working CC number?

Wink

I do remember this happening before. Not very often, but it has happened.

I'll ask for Giovanni again next time. It looks like their night shift isn't too bad if you can manage the hold time.

They were playing Thompson Twins "Hold me now" as the hold music. How... apt.
