Slashdot reply: You don't use programs? What, you put the cat-5 in your mouth and try to *taste* the intruders?

An infinite number of monkeys pounding away on keyboards will eventually produce a report showing that Windows is more secure and has a lower TCO, than linux.

Here is the CPU compatibility chart from ASUS:
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Here are the processor comparison charts for desktop and mobile processors from AMD:
http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/

That socket-754 motherboard will support a 2.4 GHz Athlon64 3700+ with 1MB L2 cache or (with BIOS version 1006 or newer) a 2.4 GHz Turion64 ML44 with 1MB L2 cache if you can find one. The fastest socket-754 processor that Newegg has is the 2.2 GHz Athlon64 3200+ with 512KB L2 cache, ADA3200AI04BX:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103035

With the updated BIOS, you might consider the 2.0GHz Turion64 MT37 with 1MB L2 cache, but I wouldn't sink that much money into socket-754 hardware.
