Quote:This is a reason for choosing Guild Wars: Nightfall over WoW or other on-line games. In Guild Wars, you don't get griefed. Each of the three Guild Wars chapters may be played by itself or combined with the others. Nightfall is the best so far because it allows you to have extensive customization and control of NPC heroes in your party.
I will agree with you JAE on that one except for the Nightfall aspect cause I'm still on the original Guild Wars right now.
Multiplayer is fine if there was more honor in the people that play. I stopped playing Unreal Tournament online because the servers I would go to would be overran by a bunch of Script Kiddies with their bots cheating to win and that's not fun for me.
I'm somewhat of an antisocial person so when I'm online I don't try to make new friends or join guilds.
Guild Wars IMO has a great balance of Social Interaction you only deal with people in the Cities and most people won't bug you.
You can customize your message bar to filter out the people who are constantly trying to trade stuff(as long as that person is using the Trade Speak option)
Not paying monthly is a plus because I am a gamer that goes through spurts of gaming. I won't game for a month and then the next thing I know I'm online 5 hours a night for a week. At least I'm not wasting any money when I don't play. |

Isn't GuildWars PVP centered? How do you avoid griefing then? Have most of the kiddies just given up by now? When I played the demo, the cities were full of terrible humanity, begging, scamming, yelling, spamming, everything that makes the PK kiddies weep with joy. It was pretty fun once I zoned into the 'real' parts of the game, though. Dragging around a group of NPCs could be fun, but from what I heard the game basically leveled you quickly to max so you could pvp.
As far as griefing in WoW, I don't know how much of that can happen. Sure someone can try to harvest your ore or something, but not much more. When I played I had some guy on the opposing team trying to train me for about 10 minutes. He failed because the mobs would reset when he died (or feigned death).
It seems the most griefing happens in pvp, which I avoid as much as possible. (Well, with the exception of some CS:S sometimes, but that's a different animal.)
Currently I'm being devoured by Oblivion, which is tremendously great. I wish they would remake Morrowwind using the oblivion engine and improvements. For an offline game, Oblivion is about as good as it can get.
I wish Neverwinter Nights 2 worked a bit better in multiplayer. It's a bit rough, and I would think having people over for electronic pen-and-paper style gaming would be the key. |

Yes and no
I've had Guild Wars for over a year and I have yet done a PVP. And the Marketplace option may have just been recently added. Yeah there are some people who still don't get it but for the most part cities are quite quiet
Sometimes I'll be in a city and won't even realize that I've been invited to 4 different Guilds or that someone was selling something cause it's handled as a PM instead of a public annoucement

Actually you can create a PVP Character already at the Max Level(20) The PVE(Player vs Environment) is mainly used to unlock skills for the PVP part of the game.
What I like about Guild Wars over all the other MMORPGs is that there is an actually storyline it gives me a sense of accomplishment to finish a mission that actually pushes the story along. It breaks up the monotony of most MMO which is fight collect resources to get better armor and weapons to fight harder monster Rinse Repeat. That's why I will take a Final Fantasy over a WOW any day of the week |
