|
Hey everyone,
I am in dire need of help. I have a couple of iDE hard drives and one primary sata drive. As a result, that primary drive has failed. Everytime that windows tries to load, the maching restarts and reboots.
I placed the knoppix disc in and was able to see and view the files that ar e on this drive. For some reason I can not copy the files to the new drive. Please help me! I need the information on that drive. Its finals time!
Thanks in advance |

did you change the permissions to the drive you're writing to in knoppix? they're usually defaulted as Read-Only.
Also, if the drive your attempting to write to is formatted in NTFS, its not gonna happen, unless NTFS writing has changed since i last ventured into it, you can't write to NTFS drives in linux. |

Boots to and XP like enviroment, should allow you to copy files and such.
Sometimes I use Knoppix, sometimes I use this. There are alot of plug-ins so you can run software same as you would on a regular windows system. Providing the software is free, or that you own and have the software installed on a PC so you can get the required files. |
