well, I broke down tonight and downloaded the new cmd line client. We'll see how much my times slow down, but I was afraid to go on any longer and lose any WU's I've done. Anyone else been using it? Confused:

I've been using it for over a week and times on my PIII 933 have gone from 6 hrs to 7.5 - 8 hrs/wu.

Damn this really sucks. My times on my 1.2GHz are usually 3.75 hours to 4.5 on the larger WU's, but this one looks like it's going to take upwards of 7!!! Big fat stinkin pile of poo.[(!]

I'm switching over as we speak

I lost a few 1/2 way completed WU's since I don't want to risk losing a bunch of completed ones by letting it run till I have free time later

Blame is for people who need a reason to be pissed off !

If I remember correctly, you are running the SETI driver and the command line version. All you have to do is download the new cmd version from this link:

http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/unix.html

There are a bunch listed, but you want the one that says this: "i386-winnt-cmdline.exe: 3.03"

All you have to do is download it, and save it in the same folder as your old CMD line executable. Then launch your seti driver like you always did and click "new client". Point it to the new EXE and you're all set. [Very Happy]

SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Seti@Home is very addictive. This is not a safe alternative to Distributed.net. Use of this product may cause weird dreams, loss of time, urgings to overclock your computers, and possible loss of jobs.

Well since I am obviously the only one on earth who always has trouble with the most basic tasks... I guess I have to post again. I got the new client and put it in the seti folder, and deleted the old one. That didn't work, just locked things up. So I left them both in there and when I open the Seti Driver to click New Client, just locks up again and again and again so then I opened the Seti folder, it asked me which client and I chose the new one. Same thing, locks up so I cannot access anything in the Driver screen.
Duh... what did I do wrong? Do I have to copy some of those other little files over too???

Ok try this.... Don't launch the driver first. Launch the new CMD line EXE you just downloaded. Let it connect and stuff and then open the seti driver and point to the new CMD (like the steps above)

Let me know if that way works.
