I think it's just NY. Yankees fans...

CONGRATS by the way... that is great. I want to do another one soon, but I can't get off my ass and even run 5 miles. Laughing My ass is finally shrinking back down to size (I've shed 55 of my 60+ preggo pounds), so it should be easier soon...

Some day... Smile

This was around mile 23.5 in Central Park:

The crowd was too quiet, so I yelled, "I love New York!" They were not so quiet then.

Some finish line photos of myself and my friend:

Unfortunately, I can't afford to do a lot of traveling for the marathons in the near future, so if I do travel it will be to a state that I haven't run one in yet. My third marathon was Cleveland back in 2004. The end goal is to run one in all 50 states. I am 16% there.

Right now, I am leaning towards running Boston again in April '07.

Yeah, I've only heard good things about it. I think i was just in that sweet spot where the crowds hadn't completely materialized yet and many that were there didn't really care because it was not the huge masses of runners. Manhattan was not bad at all, and it was probably just too early in Brooklyn.

Where the crowd was good, they were great. Where they weren't, I could yell and scream at them to get some cheers and just got met with blank stares. Very unusual.

I'll still run it again at some point, I am sure.

Number 9 went in the books a week ago, but I still am only 16% of the way towards each state since I ran Boston again.

I was hoping to beat my previous Boston time by an hour, but I fell short of my goals. I even failed to run a PR. The time is still respectable, 2:53 and change, but I wasn't happy with it. Now I have more motivation with whatever race I choose to run this Autumn. I am leaning towards the Marine Corps marathon.

Anybody that is interested and wants to see some low-res tiny pictures can read my writeup about the marathon over at Run to Win.

I just ran my first ultramarathon, a 50k trail race. I was in the vicinity of marathon distance in about 3 hours and 40 minutes, but there weren't any mile markers so that is a very rough estimate.

I did pretty well. For those with (a lot of) time on their hands, you can read about it at Run to Win:

A friend of my mother's (so aged 50-odd) runs marathons as practice for these endurance races... she recently completed a 100 mile run in just over 18 hours, and has also done the Dartmoor Discovery run (a 30-something mile run) around Dartmoor in Devon, and a 24 hour run. I think she's crazy Smile

I train with some guys that just did a 100-miler, and they are waiting on the results of the western states 100 miler lottery to see if they get to run that next summer.

I might do a 50 miler at some point in the next few years. I'll reserve judgement until after that before deciding to move up the ladder.

That's on my list of "must do" races, but I have no idea how many years it will be until I get around to it...

Marathon #11 (my 10th state) is now in the books.

I was 71st out of 20,000 some-odd runners.
