I'm in a Networking class, it's a reguired class. The first assignment is to go out on the web and ask this question. What is the number of twist perfoot/perinch of 10baseT category 5 cable? i have gotten three different answers. 20, 20.1, 20.6
even a 1.35. As i have related to others I myself don't understand wht such a question. Maybe it's because tis is not my field.

Thanks,
Alex

I'm not sure of the exact numbers(yes there is going to be more than one number involved), but here's the story. In a standard 4 pair CAT5 cable you have 5 different twist ratios. Each pair has it's own ratio and then all the pairs are twisted together for another ratio. Why twist the 4 pairs at different ratio? To help defeat crosstalk, the original reason for twisting in the first place. If each pair was twisted exactly the same you would have a better potential for crosstalk. I'm working on find the answer but I don't know when I can get it if I can even find out. The different twist ratios even applies to 25 pair CAT cable. By the way CAT5 is rated for 100baseT no 10baseT!
