IS amd64 production ready?

Hey all.

I've acquired a AMD AM2 server with the usual features (onboard RAID, 1 gig RAID, 2x250gb SATAII drives), and since this chip is 64 bit capable, figured it'd be a good idea to throw on the amd64 version ot fully utilize the power of the new processor.

However I've heard reports that 64 bit software/drivers are still playing catchup, even in BSD land, and that the amd64 platofrm is still trying to iron out the bugs. As someone that is looking to throw this as a production server, that's not too good to hear.

So I figure I'd ask foks that have used this more than I, are the reports true, or have I been fed a load?

we're running a couple of AMD64 machines (4 in fact) as blade servers. HP ones in fact. They seem to be running but I am not running *nix on them.
