|
Greetings,
I will be upgrading my home Comcast high speed to the business service and I will get 1 IP address. I am trying to plan things out so I am curious as to how I would set up my firewall, switch and access point to the modem.
The firewall will connect to the modem. The switch will connect to the firewall and the access point will connect to the switch. All three will have internal IP address of the 192.168.xxx.xxx variety, but I am curious as to what IP address I would use for the "external" connection of the firewall. If the modem will have the IP address assigned to it, would I use this same IP address in the "external" WAN config of the firewall? Or would I use a 192.168.xxx.xxx address? I am used to having either DHCP enabled on this port - or having multiple IP's at my disposal - so I want to make sure.
If it helps, I am using a WatchGuard x5. |

Most likely your config wont change, the comcast modem will pass the public IP address to your firewall via DHCP. |
