tiny-mini review
1. The wireless networking ROCKS
-rarely do distros pickup my wi-fi card on my laptop [ibm t42]
2. new XGL display looks REAL nice
3. and drum roll PLEASE, the suspend/hibernation mode actually works
-you have to enable it, but it actually works
that actually made my day  |

I totally agree on the Wireless. The new prism54 module is a huge improvement. All previous releases I had to config ndiswrapper. 2007 picked up my Netgear card out of the box.
As for XGL, hrmmm, kinda wierd. Although kinda buggy on my ATI Mobility M6. The 3d flipping of the screen once my mouse traveled off the screen kinda freaked me out. Then I notice that the flipping was actually the changing of Desktops. Jury is still out on this one. LOL
Lots of hidden little gems for the POWERPACK DVD users like myself. The inclusion of RPMS like FIRESTARTER and BIT DEFENDER makes life easier. In previous releases I had to manually compile these due to dependency issues. Not anymore (of course that was after i manually compiled firestarter .
Nothing is perfect, so here are a couple CONS so far.....
1. Update mirrors are still kinda sketchy at times.
2. Media Source list not stable. I manually configured my DVD disk to my server but balked at me the 1st three times complaining about hdlist then it finally succeeded yet I didnt change anything. Adding more than 7 source's completely wiped out my list having to start over. Did this twice. Currently running stable now with 6 sources.
3. Samba Printing continues to give me a headache. Prob my Lexmark printer but come on, its been here for the last 3 releases. Wish they would concentrate on the basics instead of worrying weather or not I want to flip my screen around in circles.

Thought my thumb drive had dies last night, as MDK 2007 wasn't seeing thedrive. Turns out enabling ACPI screws with USB detection.
So I'll have to work on that later... get one thing working only to break another |
