As far as I can tell Intel did a Microsoft on Transmeta. The Transmeta chips were low power, efficient, and nice (I have one in a sub-laptop and it rocks), and Intel just buried it all for their Pentium-M and -D technology. One wonders what Transmeta got out of the deal, if they felt that they had to sue.
I'm sure Transmeta isn't innocent either, but this'll be an interesting thorn in the side of another Silicon Valley company, coming in the middle of HP's dirty laundry ticker tape parade. |
