Strange. I did a "list all posts" and took the dates from there... But then again, no problem. Just nice to syy you.

My apologies... I meant one of my last posts is still only halfway down the CPU subforum page! Slight difference there... Again, thanks for the welcome. Smile

To get back on the thread topic, I think Intel would have to really work to not regain some market share in at least one of the three major markets. They finally have a single processor design that is the best ever seen, and they are using it in their mobile, desktop, and server product lines (Merom, Conroe, and Woodcrest). And looking towards November, the quad-core Kentsfield(s) will continue on smashing AMD's previous performance, performance per watt, and price/performance stomping grounds. The 1067mhz FSB of a Kentsfield has been proven to not have bottlenecking issues as it was commonly expected, so the server variation Clovertown with it's 1333mhz FSB won't have issues taking on AMD's K8L, when it finally arrives near the middle of 2007.

And there is something to be said for taking a $183 1.86ghz chip that completely outperforms a X2 3800+ at stock, and taking it to 3.5ghz, a full 87.5% overclock. I finally found the sweet spot with my E6300 and Gigabyte DS3, and still have headroom left. I'm letting it run a 24 hour dual-Prime95 before I tweak voltages and go higher. Cool Smile

There is one downside to Intel getting a better chip though...

We won't be able to cook our food by putting it inside our computer cases anymore - might actually have to fork over the cash for a microwave. Sad Smile
